COMMUNITY VEGETABLE GARDEN PILOT
The Centre for Unity Thru Diversity is looking to start a community garden on a piece of land approximately 2 to 10 acres as proof of concept for intent to funders.
Starting In spring 2010, CUTD-CP will opreate this garden for no more than two growing seasons or two years. All money generated from this will go in part to our farm supervisor, the remainder to CUTD-CP and its expenses. CUTD-CP will provide its partner agencies including local food banks with produce and seeks its working clients among their clients.
The community garden will allow us to acquire the skills to manage needed farm equipment; i.e. a tractor, plough, disk and cultivator. it will also give us experience as to where to obtain seeds and other needed farm supplies. But more importantly, this pilot community garden will allow us to acquire the skills and management expertise to eventually run our own permanent all-inclusive rural centre which will be appoximately 100 acres.
