In many communities in the west many Middle Eastern, South Asian and African peoples are now part of the general cultural mix, often people still hold on to the just say "no" approach and is often the only attitude used. While clearly this has proven not to work, especially for those who have already said yes, there is a desperate need to go beyond this. A need for openness and a balanced knowledge on this subject needs to be introduced in these communities to seek an effective and balanced approach.
No one community is impervious to this world phenomenon, and as problematic as it may be, we as a community can minimize the damage through open and intelligent dialogue, with an attitude of education and harm reduction. The world is after all no more than a large community and was so long before this saying was thought up.
Our workshops are conducted by people whom do not merely posess degrees and diplomas, but more importantantly, have themselves undergone a vast array of personal experiences. Our staff are qualified to work in one or more areas of expertise they are comfortable with, and in some cases come from impoverished and war torn areas, while some have roamed the earth in search of wisdom. Some have even walked and slept on the streets and struggled with every addiction known. Some have been dealing with mental health issues, yet others are or have been single mothers living on the bare minimum and experienced the unfeeling system, meant to assist them. Some suffered abuses by the hands of their spouses, parents or strangers, and yet others have come through self-esteem issues put there by learning challenges, bullies and or neglect. All our workshops and courses are to a great degree; designed from experience and the shortcomings of the programs some of our people have gone through or worked in. Our chief assistants have all worked in their various fields for many years and now instruct or facilitate through these experiences. They fully understand the short falls of current programs and the system. This has led to a deep commitment not only to improve what they have experienced, but also to add all their experiences and knowledge then take only the best pieces of their prior experiences and build more effective programs (lifestyle components) from their collective knowledge. Nothing is exclusively based on models or studies but to the greater extent on experience. CUTD lays no claim to cures or fixes, merely to help create a number of serious opportunities. We believe all individuals with the right guidance can find within themselves where the changes need to be made. We do not have a set time in which this should happen for no two people travel at the same speed nor can they necessarily gain the same lesson from a like experience. So, all those whom decide to take our programs and workshops; although some of these have a time line will be invited to participate in further workshops or extended stays to attain the maximum benefit for a physically and socially healthy, peaceful, balanced and interactive self reliant life. Our organization does not develop rapidly for we weigh and carefully check the validity of all ideas and proposals not because we dare not make a mistake for that presumption would be absurd. We do however want to get it as right as can be the first time.
